George’s (Belated) Birthday Cake Recipe

At Maev, we think our dogs ought to be able to have their cake and eat it, too. (Just as long as all of the ingredients are canine-friendly and offer some pretty cool functional health benefits, of course.)

We conducted taste tests (threw a dog birthday party) at Maev HQ and the results are in — this recipe is a total hit.

Try it for yourself …

Ingredients You’ll Need:

For the Cake:

  • 1 cup flour

  • ½ teaspoon baking soda

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

  • ¼ cup peanut butter (make sure this is 100% xylitol-free)

  • ½ cup unsweetened apple sauce

  • ½ cup pure pumpkin puree

  • 1 egg

For the Icing:

  • 1 cup plain greek yogurt

  • ½ cup xylitol-free peanut butter

For the Sprinkles:

Instructions:

  1. First, you’ll want to preheat the oven to 350°F.

  2. In a large bowl, combine the dry ingredients (flour and baking soda).

  3. In a separate mixing bowl, combine the wet ingredients (vegetable oil, peanut butter, applesauce, and pumpkin). Mix until combined and smooth.

  4. Next, add in 1 egg and mix.

  5. Pour your batter into an 8” round cake pan and bake for 25 minutes.

  6. Remove your cake from the oven, and let it cool completely before icing (ideally on a wire cooling rack).

  7. While the cake is cooling, it’s time to make your icing.

  8. For the icing, mix greek yogurt and xylitol-free peanut butter until it is fully incorporated.

  9. When the cake is done cooling, add icing.

  10. To make the sprinkles, add 1-2 Maev Supplement Bars to a plastic bag and use your hands to crumble them into small pieces.

  11. Top your icing with sprinkles, and VOILA!
