Maev Supplement Bar Review with Life with Klee Kai

AUTHORS: Kieran and Yasmin, Life with Klee Kai

As someone with dogs who suffer from separation anxiety and display other anxious behaviors too, I wanted to find a supplement designed to promote calm within my Klee Kai.

Having previously tried pills and powders, I found my fussy Alaskan Klee Kai would usually pick out the supplement pill in their food or refuse to eat dog food mixed with powdered supplements.

When I discovered Maev had created Supplement Bars that target feelings of anxiety within dogs, I was intrigued to see how my Klee Kai’s anxiety could be reduced and whether they’d consistently eat it.

I’m glad to report that Maev’s supplement bars have been a huge hit with my Klee Kai - and we’ve even introduced their Hip & Joint formulation to their daily diets alongside Anxiety & Calming Supplement Bars.

In this article, I’m going to share six reasons why pet owners may want to consider the Maev Supplement Bars based on my positive experience with my Alaskan Klee Kai.

  1. Picky Eater Approved

The most important factor for me was getting my Alaskan Klee Kai to consistently eat Maev’s Supplement Bars. I’ve got two mini huskies and my female dog is extremely fussy.

When it comes to supplements we’ve tried in the past, Skye would refuse to consume a pill. If it was hidden in her food, she’d pick it out. If I smeared it with peanut butter, she’d lick off the peanut butter and refuse to eat the pill.

I really liked that Maev took a different approach compared to most dog supplements I’ve previously tested and reviewed by creating supplement bars using dog-approved ingredients like peanut butter rather than pills or powder.

These bars worked like a treat with my Klee Kai who would run to the kitchen any time they heard a wrapper, opportunistically hoping it was time to get their daily Maev supplement.

Skye was content to munch on her bar and she was even protective of her daily portion, ensuring Copper didn’t muscle his way in and try to steal her Maev supplement.

2. Impact On Anxiety Levels

We first introduced Maev’s supplement bars to Copper and Skye in early December. So we’ve been giving our Klee Kai their calming and anxiety formulation for over three months at this stage.

Maev’s anxiety and calming bars are formulated with Bovine Colostrum and L-Theanine, supporting balanced energy, composure, relaxation, and cognitive function during training.

We’ve noticed our mini huskies are a lot calmer, especially when we have to leave them at home alone to run errands or take our daughter to her activities.

Previously, Copper and Skye would become agitated when they spotted the tell-tell signs that my wife and I were about to leave the home, whether it was putting on our shoes, grabbing our keys, or putting relaxation music on the TV.

Whereas before we’d hear them crying and howling on our pet camera while they’re home alone, they’re now much more relaxed and only make noise when they see us coming up the driveway out of pure excitement.

3. Only 8 Ingredients

Having spent the past seven years reviewing dog food, supplements for pets, and much more, I’m accustomed to seeing confusing labels on pet products (especially supplements). But from a dog owner’s perspective, I really like that Maev uses clear and concise labeling so pet parents can easily read all the ingredients in their supplement bars.

I like that Maev uses a limited-ingredient recipe - just eight ingredients - so it’s easy to see what foods your dog is eating as part of their supplement regimen.

4. Human-Grade Ingredients

Continuing on from my previous point, I really appreciate that Maev only uses human-grade ingredients in their recipe for their supplement bars.

You’ll find peanut butter, coconut flakes, chia seeds, coconut oil, flour, gelatin, and vitamin E - all ingredients that you’re likely familiar with and may even eat as part of your diet.

Maev’s Anxiety & Calming recipe also includes Bovine Colostrum and L-Theanine.

I really like that the majority of the ingredients in the bar are regular human foods that you or I might consume as part of our diet - so it’s great to see my dogs enjoying high-quality food.

5. Individually Wrapped

One of my biggest complaints about pet supplements that come in powdered form is the amount of waste. For example, I bought a dental supplement and the scooper was so small that I seemed to spill supplement powder every time I used it.

Seeing as supplements can be expensive, it’s frustrating when you’re wasting powder because the container is an awkward size, the scooper is too small, and overall, it’s just annoying!

However, Maev offers individually wrapped supplement bars preventing them from crumbling or breaking. Maev provides a handy box where you can keep the bars until you’re ready to fetch one for that day’s serving.

I found using Maev’s supplement bars created less mess on the kitchen countertop and there was no wastage, so this was a big positive.

6. Perfect for Sharing

Finally, these Maev Supplement Bars are perfect for sharing. As someone with two 15 lb dogs, I decided to split an Anxiety & Calming bar in the morning and split a Hip & Joint bar in the evening.

It was great to see my picky eaters devour their twice-daily helping of anxiety and calming bars under the illusion they were eating a treat when it was designed to promote their overall wellbeing.

So there we have it, those are my six reasons why I loved using Maev’s Anxiety & Calming Supplement Bars to promote calmness in my Alaskan Klee Kai dogs.

If you’ve got a dog who struggles with anxiety or separation anxiety, while these bars won’t cure the chronic canine condition, they could definitely help alongside some separation anxiety training.

We had a great experience feeding these bars to our fussy eaters, who devoured them at every opportunity. Reading through the reviews online, Maev’s supplement bars have been a big hit with dogs in the USA.

So why not give them a try?
