Meet Maev’s September Dog of the Month

This may come as a surprise, but there’s nothing we love more than celebrating dogs. So, each month we’re spotlighting a dog from our community. For the month of September, we’d like you to meet Bon!

Tell us about your dog’s origin story (how they chose you, how you chose them, or how they got their name).

I met Bon last July through a local Detroit rescue. The shelter she was in put out a desperate plea to get her out because she was mentally declining in that environment. The day I met her, she ran up to me and jumped up to lick my face, which pretty much sealed the deal for me! She was so grateful to be out of the shelter and around people again. She tested positive for heartworm and had to stay with a different foster during her treatment since I live in an apartment, and the treatment requires exercise restriction. During the three-month treatment, I went and visited her every week, and each time I saw her, I knew she had chosen me as her person. When she finally completed her treatment and came home to me, I knew she was staying forever!

Squirrels, bunnies, or birds?

Bunnies!

If you could ask your dog one question and have them answer, what would it be?

How many babies did you have? I actually ask her this all the time because she was used for breeding before ending up at the shelter. Her previous "owners" dumped her and the male off when they were no longer fit to make puppies.

What is your dog’s beige flag?

She's 70lbs of pure pittie muscle but would 100% befriend an intruder

If your dog was a TV or a movie character, who would it be?

Queen Latifah

What table scrap would your dog trade you for?

Give her a pup cup, and I'm gone

If your dog had a job, what would it be?

Editor-in-Chief of Dogue (Vogue)

What is your dog’s name for you?

Mama Bear

When your dog is dreaming, what’s it about?

Walking the red carpet in the hottest designer clothes

If your dog had a dating profile, what would be their most attractive quality?

We don't call her Big Booty Bon for nothing ;)

If your dog slid into our DM’s, what would they say?

The serving size of your food is just a SUGGESTION, right???

Is there anything else we should know about your dog? (think funny anecdotes, defining characteristics, etc.)
In our rescue community, she's known as the THEE Bonbon because she loves dressing up! She always wears a cute collar and a matching outfit.
